Kwila Bowl Blanks
Characteristics: Kwila, also called Merbau is an extremely hard exotic hardwood. The heartwood is brown to dark brown in color with a yellowish white sapwood. Interlocking grain and moderatly coarse textured. Yellow deposits are a common feature in the wood.
Common Uses: Kwila is used for all kinds of projects - flooring - fine furniture - cabinetry etc. Due to the size of our pieces we have available, we suggest turnery.
Working Properties: Moderate to severe blunting on cutting edges. Pre boring is advised to avoid splitting. Treating before gluing is advised due to oil content. Great for wood turning!
