Mopane Turning Stock
Characteristics: This exotic and imported hardwood has heartwood that is dark reddish-brown to almost black, while the sapwood is a light straw color. The wood is extremely durable, very hard and heavy. Very attractive!
Common Uses: Mopane is used for mine props - furniture - poles - carving - turnery.
Working Properties: Mopane should be worked with power tools due to its toughness. Pre-bore for fasteners. Takes a high gloss finish well and glues satisfactorily.
