Tulipwood Bowl Blanks
Characteristics: Tulipwood is a hard dense wood with a pinkish to yellowish heartwood with pronounced stripes of violet, salmon and rose. The grain is interlocked and irregular with a medium to fine texture. Tulipwood is a unique and attractive hardwood.
Common Uses: Tulipwood, sometimes called Brazilian Tulipwood, only comes in small sizes. Because of its size it is mainly used for turnery, carving and furniture accent pieces.
Working Properties: Woodturners do enjoy working with this exotic species. It turns well, carves well and polishes to a brilliant luster. Tulipwood is very hard and must be pre bored. Keep tools sharp as it will dull tool edges.
